New Rochelle is 17 miles from Manhattan in Westchester County, New York. Referred to as “New Roc City” by the locals, here are a few interesting facts:

In 1923, New Rochelle resident Anna Jones became the first African-American woman to be admitted to the New York State Bar.

Scenes in Goodfellas were filmed on Alfred Lane, off Quaker Ridge Road in the Pinebrook Heights neighborhood. The house of the parents of Henry Hill’s eventual wife, Karen, is on Alfred Lane.

In the early 1960s TV hit show, The Dick Van Dyke Show, starring Dick Van Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore as Rob and Laura Petrie, the Petrie family lived at 148 Bonnie Meadow Lane in the north end of the city.
